O Elefante em Bordéus [The Elephant at Bordeaux]

The Elephant travelled to Bordeaux. The basic idea to carry records of photographs of London that we did in November 2014, that document the hanging of pictures of Lisbon and London. When I think of this I realize that it can be an “ad aeternum” formula, with pictures of pictures of pictures, that contain the World inside, but also a way to join places and thoughts into a common cultural environment. It might even take us further away but, until today, it joined Lisbon, London and Bordeaux and who knows what follows…

I travelled a bit worried as I didn’t know if I could and how I would hang the images in the city. Since it was my first visit, it might not be safe or appropriate to hang it and I wasn’t also sure if I would find the perfect spot, that would make me want to stop, take risks and do it. The spot came to me as I passed by, with no words that can describe what the images show.

  • John Levett says:

Carla, this is an excellent piece. You convey all the anxieties that wall posting entails in an unfamiliar space. The ‘uncanny’! We will not always know how the work is received. Congratulations on this fine action. The images look so appropriate; so relevant.

  • Thank you John. The place showed itself and it is also the walls of the court of Justice and the school of law.
